So Is Hope!
I've been doing a lot of reflecting the past six months or so, brought on by the anniversary of becoming a single parent and single person. Lately, I seem to notice a lot of dates and people of significance that remind me of the journey I've taken over the last ten years.
As I continue to invest in and grow AlohaCoach, I'm not always aware of the courage it takes to embark on creating and building one's own business. I stay focused on what I'm passionate about; people and their potential. A bonus has been noticing that my passion extends into every piece of this adventure, including the business side of providing a service (this, I'm told, doesn't often go hand in hand). The only times I notice a need to harness my courage is when I'm not spending as much time interacting with people as I'd like, for instance when clients are out of town or ill. Doubt begins to creep in as I wonder if the lull will last forever.
I receive Seth Godin's blog each day and Monday's was especially poignant for me. Although he writes in relation to business, his message about risk and uncertainty may be of value to you, too.
As I ponder his thoughts and reflect again upon my circumstances ten years ago as compared to today, I would have called many of the steps along the way risks. I now prefer the word uncertainty as it allows for hope, and hope allows for movement.
I'm grateful for the courage to continue moving forward despite uncertainty and for all the rewards that come with it. I'm going to continue using the word uncertainty as I consider my future choices for AlohaCoach; for me, it cultivates hope and action when doubt knocks.
